Modern ECU-based engines and machines use the SAE J1939 CANbus protocol to integrate control, display, instrument and communication systems.

But many applications and equipment fleets continue to use older, non-ECU engines. MeCAN translates 'mechanical' engine speed sensor, resistive sender and fault switch signals into SAE J1939 CANbus data. Non-ECU engines can be upgraded with future-proof CANbus control systems, and standard control and harness systems can be developed for both ECU and non-ECU engines.

MeCAN's epoxy-filled construction gives superior shock resistance and environmental sealing, allowing use in off-road, marine or other demanding conditions.
